Tim Jackson, GMB, CGB, Owner/President
After graduating from Texas Tech University with a BBA
in Finance, Tim decided the corporate world of banking
was not for him. After all, he put himself through
school as a trim carpenter and was intrigued with new
home construction. He accepted a position with a
volume builder and began to learn the business.
For the next ten years he worked in various superintendent
and construction management positions for both volume
and custom home builders in the Dallas area.
Tim formed his own company, Tim Jackson
Custom Homes, Inc. in September 1996. Tim is involved
in all aspects of the construction process of each new
home from helping customers select a lot and design their
plans, to the final walk-through with each homeowner.
Tim currently serves as the President of the Home
Builders Association of Greater Dallas (HBA). He is also
on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.
He has served as the Vice President/Secretary, First
Vice President and Membership Chairperson for the HBA
and in the positions of President, Vice President,
Secretary and Treasurer of the North Dallas/Collin
County Division of the HBA.
Tim is active in the Builder 20 Club Program through the
National Association of the Home Builders Association
(NAHB), where he is the past President of the Dream
Builders Club. He is a member of BUILDPAC, the NAHB
Political Action committee and the Austin Club of
HOMEPAC, the Texas Association of Builders (TAB)
Political Action Committee. In addition, he serves on
the Board of Directors for the NAHB and TAB.
In April 2003 Tim became one of only 300 professional
builders nationwide to attain a Graduate Master Builder
(GMB) designation identifying him as one of the building
industry's top professionals. To become a GMB, a builder
must have attained the Certified Graduate Builder (CGB)
designation with the NAHB which requires the completion
of 54 hours of continuing education in homebuilding, an
intensive series of five, six-hour courses on business
management techniques, and the newest trends and
technology in the building industry.
In 2009 Tim received his Certified Green Professional (CGP),
an exclusive designation offered by the NAHB designed to
teach building industry professionals strategies for
incorporating green building principles into homes using
cost-effective and affordable options. The CGP
designation requires that graduates meet prescribed
standards of practice, possess a minimum of two years
building industry experience, complete comprehensive
education curriculum, and pledge to uphold the program’s
code of ethics.
